           TO THE CUSTOMERS OF THE WHEAT RIDGE WATER DISTRICT

 

 

Beginning February 1, 2026, your bill will increase by $5.51 per month on the fixed portion (Service Charge) for single family residential customers from $11.02 to $16.53. For multi-family dwellings, your service charge will increase by $11.02 per single family residential equivalent (SFE) from $22.03 to $33.05. For each tier, the metered consumption rate for all customers will increase by six percent (6%). Residential and Duplex blocks will be restructured in 2026. These changes are necessary due to the rising cost of materials and labor required to fund essential capital replacements.

 

The District is working through a program to replace all the remaining cast iron main lines with larger, modern ductile iron and PVC water main lines. Since 1975 we have successfully replaced approximately two-thirds of our water mains without incurring debt. And, although the District has been diligent in replacing and updating its infrastructure, approximately twenty miles of water main lines need to be replaced over the next thirty to forty years. The annual investment in capital replacements is expected to be at least $500,000.

 

As part of our capital replacement plan, the District recently replaced the Wadsworth Boulevard water mains in coordination with the City of Wheat Ridge’s Wadsworth Boulevard Widening Project. This collaboration significantly reduced our capital costs, and we will continue to pursue similar cost-saving opportunities whenever possible. The District has several capital improvement projects planned for 2026.
