As a Water Distributor for Denver Water, the Wheat Ridge Board of Directors has resolved that the Wheat Ridge Water District will be required to follow the Denver Board of Water Commissioners' decision to end lawn watering season effective October 1, 2026.

 

Beginning October 1, 2026, all lawn watering and lawn spray irrigation will be prohibited. The final day lawn watering will be allowed will be September 30, 2026.

Drought surcharges will remain in effect during the Level One Drought declaration, and  at least until April 30, 2027, unless  further action by the Wheat Ridge Water District Board of Directors has occured.

•  Hand-watering with an automatic shut off nozzle, watering can, low-volume no-spray irrigation system, or similar method is permitted for grees, shrubs, perennials, annuals and vegetables, as needed, but not between 10:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m.
• Vehicle washing outside a commercial car wash must be done using a bucket or a hand-held hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle. 
• Power washing is prohibited .
• No variance for new seed or sod will be issued.
